Malta actively participates in the international campaign of the United Nations against human trafficking

For the third consecutive year, Malta participated in the Blue Heart Campaign on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Malta broadens its commitments in the fight against human trafficking while continuing to collaborate with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Operationalizing engagement in the Blue Heart Campaign

17 May 2022 - The virtual event co-organized by France and Sweden, dedicated supporters of the Blue Heart Campaign, and UNODC focused on presenting concrete actions taken by States, NGOs and the aviation sector to combat human trafficking. A new UNODC report on human trafficking in Southeastern Europe was introduced. The event took place on the sidelines of the 31th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).

The Blue Heart Campaign reaches indigenous communities in Mexico

9 August 2021 - The UNODC Mexico team has been working for over a year, under the sponsorship of Canada, to understand how human trafficking networks operate within indigenous communities, learn about the risks faced by this particularly vulnerable group, comprehend the best training and communication approaches, adapt multicultural visions into the combat of such a complex crime, and most importantly, listen to their stories.

Peru's Ministry of the Interior joins the Blue Heart Campaign for the International Day against Trafficking in Persons

19 July 2021 - The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Blue Heart Campaign 2021 by the Ministry of the Interior of Peru and the Permanent Multisectoral Commission against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants.

North Macedonia joins UNODC’s Blue Heart Campaign against Human Trafficking

9 July 2021 - Joining 33 other countries across the globe, North Macedonia has become the latest state to adopt the Blue Heart Campaign in its efforts to tackle human trafficking. Announced this week during a session of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration, the Blue Heart Campaign is now a central element of North Macedonia’s awareness raising drive to end this crime and protect those most impacted.

Paying tribute to first responders in the fight against human trafficking

7 August 2020 - The crucial role of the people who respond to crimes of human trafficking was recognized during a high-level virtual event to mark the 2020 World Day against Trafficking in Persons on 30 July. “Recognizing Response – Committed to the Cause,” was organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Liaison Office in New York together with the Permanent Mission of Belarus on behalf of the Group of Friends United against Human Trafficking.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the UNODC-led Blue Heart Campaign against Trafficking in Persons, this year’s theme, “Committed to the Cause - Working on the Frontline to End Human Trafficking”, highlights the fundamental role of the first responders to human trafficking.
