UNODC has been present in Bhutan since 2014. The UNODC Programme Office (PO) is based in Thimphu and is the key interlocutor for cooperation with the Government. UNODC is part of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2024-28) in Bhutan.

 

PO-Bhutan is guided by the UNODC Regional Office for South Asia, based in New Delhi and the UNODC Regional Programme for South Asia (2024-28) launched in May 2024.

 

UNODC cooperation with the Government of Bhutan focuses on a safer, just,and prosperous Bhutan. UNODC stands ready to support the Government in acquiring further capacity to fight organized crime, trafficking in persons, and drug trafficking.

 

UNODC has supported the government in strengthening national legal frameworks, enhancing multi-stakeholder responses and building the capacities of law enforcement officials, community leaders, and young people to promote public health, safety and well-being. UNODC enjoys excellent cooperation with the Government.
