UNODC has been present in Bangladesh since 2007 and is based in the UN common premises in Dhaka. The UNODC Programme Office (PO) is the key interlocutor for cooperation with the Government. UNODC is part of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2022-27) in Bangladesh. PO-Bangladesh works under the strategic umbrella of the UNODC Regional Office for South Asia based in New Delhi and the UNODC Regional Programme for South Asia (2024-28) launched in May 2024.

UNODC signed an MoU with the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) in April 2025, to enhance cooperation on transnational organized crime, illicit drugs, and terrorism. Based in Dhaka, the BIMSTEC Secretariat and UNODC work closely to implement the MoU.

UNODC is working to launch the country-specific cooperation framework, The Dhaka Roadmap, which will be a significant milestone in collaborative efforts to address the multifaceted challenges in Bangladesh.
